You can join the Vegetarians of Alberta by becoming a member or a volunteer.

Memberships are valid for one year from the date they are purchased.

  • Student & Senior......... $15/year
  • Individual ................... $25/year
  • Family ......................... $30/year
  • Lifetime, Individual ...... $150
  • Lifetime, Family ........... $175

To become a member:
  • Call (780) 439 - 8725 to register by phone.
OR
  • Print the VOA Membership Form and fill out the information required.
  • Cheques may be writted to 'Vegetarians of Alberta Association.'
  • Mail or drop off the membership form and payment to:

Volunteer with VOA

As VOA is 100% volunteer-run, we always welcome new volunteers to our team! Here are some of the opportunities to help VOA promote vegetarianism in Edmonton and area:

Cooking class volunteer (2-4 hours per month)


Help plan, prepare and demonstrate vegan dinners for VOA's New Cooking Classes. Previous experience in teaching a group to cook would be an asset.

Potluck volunteer (3 hours per month)

2 Positions Available:

Help set up or take down at the VOA potlucks.  You can commit to one, two... or all potlucks.


Newsletter volunteer (1-3 hours per month)


The Leading Veg newsletter requires veg-related submissions of articles, essays, opinions, art. Do you love to read or eat?  We are always looking for restaurant and book reviews. It is published quarterly, so stir up your creativity!

Library volunteer (1-4 hours per month)


Help organize and maintain the VOA Lending Library. Update the inventory file as required (can be done from your home computer).

Membership volunteer (2-4 hours per month)

Assist with signing up new VOA members at potlucks and occasional events. Communication skills required to explain advantages of VOA membership.

Educational Material Development Volunteer

Create and design new VOA display boards, pamphlets and event table top presentations.  Creative and artistic skills an asset.

Special events and Outreach volunteer (2-4 hours per month)

Come out and help staff a VOA booth.

Pass out brochures, sell VOA items and answer questions from the general public.

Volunteer for 1 or all of the following Edmonton events:

  • Earth Day
  • Bikeology
  • Parkland Institute Conference
  • Film screenings (various locations)
  • October 1st World Vegetarian Day

 Annual VOA March Cook-off Contest

(4 hours a YEAR)

March is recognized worldwide as meat out month.

Various and numerous positions available:

  • master of ceremonies
  • fashion show coordinator
  • fashion show models
  • door greeters
  • judge coordinator
  • contest entry coordinator
  • general helpers

Volunteer Coordinator (1 hour per month)

Maintain volunteer list.  Contact and organize volunteers for VOA potlucks and events.

Speakers Bureau Volunteer

Speakers are needed to attend community events and visit schools to get the Veggie message out there.
