So, after a fantastic meal at Padmanadi, we were driving home and went past a new store just a few blocks away. Whole Vegetarian Food Inc. has a crazy selection of frozen meat/fish analogs, freezers and freezers full of different varieties. They are open 7 days a week, if you get the chance check them out.

My only concern is that the products are largely imported from Taiwan which means a lot of processing, packaging and transportation to get these unique food items to Edmonton. I'll keep it in mind for specialty products like the veggie mutton (although i doubt i'll ever make it as good as Padmanadi or Oriental Veggie House!) but will stick to the locally grown, whole foods from the farms in Alberta.

I like this concept. I wish there was a vegetarian grocery store in Edmonton. With this stuff avaialable and locally grown goodness too. There is also a vegetarian store in Millwoods; I forget the name. It is on 23rd ave for sure and 85st approx. I like it there although it is quite small. They also serve vegan sushi and bubble tea.
